'A Merman's Tale' Major Characters (Updated)

    Fernando Cervera. (age 28) Transformed into a merman by Harry Scott so he could be with his fiancée Ana Oliva.   

    Diane Collins. (age 49) Mermaid, almost her entire body is covered in green scales except for her head and hands. Grew up in New Jersey before her family moved to North Carolina.

    Dr Shannon Collinson/Nima Gella (age 48/?) Transformed into a Twi'lek Jedi by the Xanadu Event, is able to maintain balance between her two identities.

    Louis Davies. Commander of the local Coast Guard station in the Beaufort, North Carolina area. Dave and his vessel, the 'Queen of the Mers' and his crew (Carlos, Danielle, and Ted), are assigned to his station.

    Yuki Hara. (age 47) In the US on an extended visit. Came to the Kubla Con as a samurai before changing costumes, became a mermaid. From Japan.

    Natalie May (age 15/16) Chose to become a water-only breathing mermaid rather than suffocate from an incurable lung disease, just days before her 16th birthday.

    Debbie Meade. (age 21) Self-employed photographer and aspiring oceanographer, became a changable mermaid (in more ways than one). Any pants or shorts she puts on will quickly transform into skirts.

    Brian Mears. (age 42) Coast Guard veteran and next-door neighbor of the 'Mers of Beaufort' One of Gizella's brothers.  Married to Kathy, father of Rachel and Carla.

    Joseph Daniel 'Dan' Mears. (age 45) Also a Coast Guard veteran and next door neighbor of the Mers of Beaufort, Gizella's other brother. Husband of Sylvia, father of Kelli and Alec.

    Gizella Mears. (age 47) Mermaid, originated idea of employing Mers as 'go to' teams to investigate accidents, do research, and so forth underwater. Has made shells-top fans of both Sara and Yuki. Gizella and her brothers Brian and Dan were all originally from Colorado.

    Ana Oliva. (age 28) Mermaid, engaged to Fernando Cervera.

    Marlon Pettigrew. (age 52) Longtime friend and neighbor of Janice Sisco, with whom he co-founded Flying Penguins cosplay group. Recently grew a beard. Left Xanadu minutes before the Event to attend wedding of another longtime friend.

    Harry Scott. (age 49) Arrived in Orlando on eve of the Kubla Con, a chance encounter with longtime friend and former neighbor Janice Sisco led to his being at the convention. Was transformed into a human Mervulcan just before he could change into his Classic Trek Vulcan costume. Is beginning to realize he may possess an extrordinary power. From New Jersey.

    Steve Scott. (age 44) Younger brother of Harry Scott. Married to Linda, father of Andrea, Marie, Stephanie, and Paul.

    Janice Sisco. (age 49) Recruited Harry Scott to Flying Penguins and originated idea of having him spend part of the Kubla Con as a merman. In a wheelchair since childhood, became a mermaid. Possibly one of the few Xanadu survivors whose quality of life was clearly improved by the Effect.

    Sara Smith. (age 18) A mermaid with pointed ears bought at Flying Penguins booth. Is unable to wear any clothing except shells. From Virginia.

    Bruce Tovey. (age 14/15) Another aspiring oceanographer. Paralyzed in an accident the previous winter, was transformed into a merman (with working tail!) by Harry Scott, using Mer magic and the Vulcan mind-meld two days prior to his 15th birthday.

    ?/Dr T'Kring. (age ?/250) Previous identity not yet known. Vulcan woman doctor, one of Dr McCoy's mentors. Wears Next Gen medical officer's uniform.

    Sally Walsh. (age 46) The most enthusiastic 'Trekkie' of the Flying Penguins, became a Vulcan. Is able to maintain balance between her human and Vulcan selves.
